Important changes in 2022!

In 2022 the dates for submitting proposals will change slightly. For the first call the following dates are important:

2022-02-07 -
The call 2022:2 is opened
2022-02-22 -
Webinar with important information (in Swedish). Time: 13.00-15.00
2022-03-06 -
Deadline for submitting proposals to 2022:2.
2022-06-01 - The call 2023:1 opens

2022-06-10 -
Webinar with important information (in Swedish). Time: 10.15-12.00
2022-08-07 - Deadline for submitting proposals to 2023:1.

You may write the proposal in English, but the Summary and the Project title have to be in Swedish.

Also, please note that:

  1. Make sure that ALL proposals have a committed stakeholder within Trafikverket who ensures that the proposed topic is relevant to the stakeholder and to what use. An email from the stakeholder with that information, included in the attachment, will suffice.
  2. The applicant should be one of the academic parties in BVFF.
  3. All questions are mandatory. The application will not be registered as received unless everything is complete.
  4. All attachments should be merged into one document and included within the proposal. No other project descriptions - attached or via email - will be read.
  5. The evaluation is based entirely on the text that fits in the application form and the requested attachments, not on any links to other documents or media.
  6. If more than one CV, state the most relevant merits from each and make sure that all fits within a maximum of two pages in the attachment.
  7. Prepare and SAVE your texts in, for example, Word, using the same headlines as in the form and copy/past to the form below. Use ”Count words” including spaces. The stated text limit will cut the text if too long.
  8. Save (=Send) if you need a break and use the link you receive, in the confirmation email, to continue. You can make changes through the final date.
  9. Please fill out everything in the form as carefully as possible. Explain briefly, clearly and intelligibly what you wish to accomplish and to what use. Under each headline there are examples of what should be concluded. Left out information will delay the process or disqualify the proposal.

From project call 2020:2, there are two different application options:

• In the first, you only fill out BVFF's form, as usual. For those who do not get rejected, the decision-making process takes a little longer since we first give a preliminary decision and ask for additional information (Trafikverket's "Project specification - FOI"). Together with your designated contact at Trafikverket/ the Swedish Transport Administration, you fill out and submit the form after which a final decision can be made by Trafikverket.

• In the second option, you fill out both BVFF's form AND Trafikverket's Project specification and an ULF template from start. You can choose this option if you have an established contact at Trafikverket and you should then fill out the form jointly with your contact. If everything is filled out correctly, you can get a final decision faster. If the form is incomplete the process will be delayed. When we open the call, you will find the document link (to both the project specification and the ULF template) in our application form. Submit both forms in their original file format in an email directly to bvff@vti.se and state which project title they concern.

TRL - Technology Readiness Level

TRL 2-7 is relevant to BVFF, where it is important to focus on the development of new knowledge at higher TRL levels rather than at present being assessed at a certain level. You find information about TRL here.

Regulatory documents

The areas covered by BVFF's financing are target areas and programs in Trafikverket's research and innovation plan for the years 2021-2026 primarily limited to the needs in Trafikverket's portfolio “Vidmakthålla”, but also, to a certain extent, to the portfolio “Planera” and “Bygga”. All project proposals should address the target area in one - or more - of the portfolios.

We recommend that you read the BVFF Program Description (Pdf in Swedish) with instructions for project financing.

Also read Trafikverket's report FOU-inriktning Beläggning.
